TransAKtion! TG Non-Profit Charitable Organization is here!

It has long been a dream of mine to see an organization formed by us, run by us, that exists to help us.

Transgendered people suffer discrimination at every turn. Many of us face violence, simply for being ourselves. Transition can also be cost-prohibitive for many of us, especially the guys. Many of us are forced into the sex industry due to lack of opportunties and societal marginalization of TGs.

There is so much work to do. This website is the first step towards fulfilling my dream of uniting us into a real community.

TransAKtion
A name that says it all.  The fact is that no one had a dream for us, and there will be no "Million Trannie March" on Washington. There simply aren't enough of us around, for any of us to set back and just wait for others to make things better for us.  This means that each of us must act to further our cause, and affect real change.

There are several ways that you and I can affect change.

Advocate.  Stand-up for your rights! Talk to your councilmen and legislators about TG   rights and equality. Remember, discriminatory laws will not change themselves, and if not us, then who???.

Assist.      Assist your sisters and brothers in need when you can. We all share the same journey, and we MUST stick together.

Represent.  Represent YOUR people in a positive manner. The public-at-large hold many stereo-types about us. Shatter them with excellence!!!

Educate.   Inform the uninformed! Let people know that we are people too, and want the same basic things in life that everyone does.

Unify.     Do not fight with your brothers and sisters. Even if you do not personally see eye-to-eye, we must stick together and work toward our common goals if we ever wish to accomplish them.

Volunteer. Participate in your community. Show your neighbours that you are a citizen who cares about your community.

Our First Fundraiser: A resounding success!

On May 15th, 2010, the GLBT community and our allies  turned out in force at Mad Myrna's in Anchorage to support the launch of TransAKtion-Alaska's first non-profit organization that will serve the needs of the transgendered community!

Tara Lampert and Enzina Marrari.  These wonderful ladies are University of Alaska professors, who both include Transgender issues in their Women's Studies curriculum.  They are valuable allies of our community, and we love them!

Long-legged Blonde Beauty performing at the Show.  The show consisted of a variety of female impressionists and live comedy and cabaret-style entertainment peppered with powerful live vocal.performances.

Another of Myrna's gorgeous Female Impressionists giving a stunning performance to benefit TransAKtion.  Altogether, these wonderful folks raised nearly $1800 for us!

Lisa Osmond and her guy, Wayne having a great time at the show. Several people from the transgender community came out to show their support, and enjoy the show.
